Sound insulation materials must be sound-absorbing and have both a low resistance to the flow of sound and a strong ability to dissipate the penetrating sound energy. We know that the sound absorption by a sound insulation material depends on the frequency of the incident sound wave. To achieve the best sound insulation, we use a combination of two different elements:
> A permeable element, transparent to sound and flexible in order to increase the dissipation of sound energy through the vibration rate on its surface.
> An impermeable element that, to be sound absorbing, must be flexible and dampened.
The first element is particularly effective for absorbing low frequencies, while the latter is better when dealing with high frequencies.
A typical acoustic panel is formed by an element of high acoustic transparency and a filler with pores arranged in a direction different from that of the flow (creating a high resistance to the flow), so that the sound wave penetrates easily and is then dissipated inside.
The production and packaging of the combined elements, equipped to best satisfy the requirements mentioned above, is a specialty of Isolcomit, always a forerunner in offering materials ready for use and able to deliver the best result in terms of sound insulation.
