Environmental acoustic correction treatments are designed on the basis of the reverberation characteristics of the rooms needing remediation.
The noise level detected at a given point in a closed room is the sum of two components.
The first stems directly from the sound source, while the second derives from the sound being reflected off the surfaces that enclose the environment, giving rise to a phenomenon called reverberation.
The first, direct component is more influential in the vicinity of the sound source, while the second, reflected component increases, the greater the distance from the source.
Environmental acoustic treatments consist in reducing the reflected component by reducing the reverberation time, thereby achieving a sound level abatement of up to 6 dBA in the reverberated field.
The metal sound-insulating and sound-absorbing panels normally used in these cases are designed and manufactured to meet specific acoustic correction needs,
or by applying sound-absorbing panels, called baffles, to the ceiling of the room, which reduce the reflected part of the noise and contain the reverberation times in the areas involved.
Acoustic correction treatments are implemented using two main methods:
1) by suspending vertical sound-absorbing panels, or baffles, made of various washable, rot-proof and strongly light reflecting materials from steel wires;
2) by applying sound-absorbing panels made of various materials of high strength and durability to available portions of wall and/or ceiling surfaces.
